This book blew me away. It is a powerful story. The action is narrated through the main character Imir Jan. The invitation that he hears over the phone immediately drew me in: "there is a way to be good again." What an awesome journey it recounts! Isn't there a common desire running through all human life...goodness, beauty, and hope?
You absolutely MUST read this!

Hi, Roberta,
You don't know me, but I've learned about you through my distant family members, who went to Ireland with me recently for a couple of weeks. They are Steve and Diane Curll. Great folks; love them!
I resigned from Greenville College a year ago last spring, but am still teaching one course a semester as an adjunct.
Last spring, I taught Modern British Literature, and had my students create webpages around one post-colonial novel. I "cheated" in using "Kite Runner," because Afghanistan was never really part of the British Empire, but it was such a good novel that I used it anyway. My student, Rhonda Gregory, created a wonderful website around the novel. In fact, she got a response from the author himself, Khaled Housseini! You might want to look at it.
We used a free webhosting site, so the quality of the pages varies quite a bit--largely NOT the kids' fault--but, if you're interested in seeing Rhonda's page, go to http://hartheaded.roxer.com. Click on the "Literature" link, and then click on "Rhonda's Page."
I may have forgotten the correct URL. You may have to put the www. in there, but I don't think so.
